Abstract

Language is a tool and distinctive characteristic of humans, which is one of the most remarkable intellectual achievements. The development of language itself is divided into two aspects: receptive language ability and expressive language ability. The expressive language ability of young children is one critical aspect that must be developed in human life. This ability encompasses the skills of young children in asking questions, responding to given questions, communicating orally, and retelling what they know. The storytelling method becomes one of the techniques used to enhance the expressive language abilities of children. This research employs a literature review method to analyze the influence of storytelling methods on children's expressive abilities. The data sources are obtained from 10 relevant scientific articles related to the research object, and the data collection technique involves reading and processing data from these articles. The data analysis results indicate that storytelling methods have a positive impact on children's expressive abilities. This is evidenced by the improvement in children's communication skills, listening, and expression of feelings after the storytelling method is applied to learning.
