Knowledge Relating to The Diabetic Ulcer Prevention Efforts in Diabetes Mellitus

The diabetic 'ulcer is a frequent complication of diabetes mellitus. In the patient who lacks knowledge of his diabetic ulcer's prevention, he could directly influence his actions. The better the knowledge the patient has the better the 'ulcer' he's exposed to, likewise, he 'd risk developing the diabetic ulcer at any cost. The aim of this study was to identify relationship between knowledge and prevention of diabetic ulcers in the DM patients in general policlinic, RSUD Indramayu. This type of research is a descriptive correlation with a sectional cross approach. The population in this study is all the patient of diabetes mellitus who visited polycolic in 1 and 2 with an average monthly visit of as many as 80 patients. The sampling technique used was an purposive sampling with a sample of as many as 66 respondents. The data-collection tool uses a questionnaire. The data was analyzed using pearson chi-square test. Research shows that, as much as 29 (43.9%) of the respondent 'ulcer' is' diabetic ', and 37 (56.1%) 'he has' diabetic' ulcer 'prevention well, further analysis shows pvalue = 0,000 (a = 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and prevention of diabetic ulcers in the DM patients. Suggestions for nurses to create health education programs to prevent ulcers, such as providing education to DM patients about the symptoms of ulcers.
