Abstract

This study addresses the problem that many early childhood learners still struggle to understand the basic concept of comparison, such as more, less, and equal, when presented in abstract forms. This limitation can hinder their readiness for future mathematical learning. The research aims to describe the implementation of the demonstration method combined with the traditional Congklak game in introducing simple mathematical comparison concepts to young children. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through structured observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The subjects were children aged 5–6 years in group B at PAUD Piynahani Afal Morba, Alor Regency. The findings indicate that the integration of demonstration and the Congklak game effectively facilitated children’s understanding of comparison concepts. The children showed enthusiasm and active participation during the learning process. Furthermore, the use of Congklak provided a concrete learning experience aligned with their cognitive developmental stage. The study implies that early mathematics learning can be enhanced through the use of local culture-based media as a means of strengthening the character of love for the homeland in early childhood. traditions.
